A p-value of .051... Wait a minute, have I actually checked for outliers in the data set? The boundaries between good and bad scientific practice are not always black and white, but often lie in a methodological and/or normative gray area. The seminar offers doctoral students a guide to ensuring good scientific practice in the context of their doctoral studies. Along the individual stages of the research process, key topics such as research ethics, authorship, pre-registration, and open science are discussed and explored in depth using best practice guidelines from the German Research Foundation (DFG). In addition to ensuring scientific standards, participants also acquire skills in dealing with scientific misconduct.

Participation in the seminar complies with the continuing education regulations of the doctoral program and is certified accordingly.
